Dana Michel (b. Ottawa, Canada) is a choreographer and live artist based in Montreal. In 2006, she graduated from the BFA program in Contemporary Dance at Concordia University in her late twenties. Prior to this, she was a marketing executive, competitive runner and football player. She is a 2011 danceWEB scholar (Vienna, Austria) and is currently an artist-in-residence at Usine C (Montreal, Canada) and a Visiting Dance Artist at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
Her first extended-length solo performance piece, Yellow Towel, was featured on the “Top Five” and the “Top Ten” 2013 dance moments in the Voir newspaper (Montreal) and Dance Current Magazine (Canada) respectively. In 2014, she was awarded the newly created ImPulstanz Award (Vienna) in recognition for outstanding artistic accomplishments and was highlighted amongst notable female choreographers of the year by the New York Times. That same year concluded with Yellow Towel appearing on the Time Out New York Magazine “Top Ten Performances” list. Her most recent and critically acclaimed solo, Mercurial George, was premiered at Festival TransAmériques (Montreal) in June 2016. Both pieces are currently on tour.
In June 2017, Dana Michel was awarded the Silver Lion for Innovation in Dance by the Venice Biennale (Italy). Also in 2017, she joined Par B.L.eux, a company founded and directed by Benoît Lachambre as an associate artist.

Dana Michel (née à Ottawa, Canada), est une chorégraphe et performeuse basée à Montréal. Après avoir été responsable marketing, participé à des compétitions de course à pied et joué au football, elle obtient en 2006, à la fin de la vingtaine, son diplôme du programme de danse contemporaine du BFA de l’Université de Concordia. En 2011, elle reçoit une bourse « DanceWeb » (Vienne, Autriche) et est actuellement un artiste en résidence à l'Usine C (Montréal, Canada) ainsi qu’artiste invitée en danse au Centre national des Arts à Ottawa.
Sa première œuvre de performance solo de 60 minutes, Yellow Towel, s’est classée respectivement dans le «Top 5» et le «Top 10» de l’hebdomadaire Voir (Montréal) et de Dance Current Magazine (Canada). En 2014, elle a reçu le prix ImPulstanz (Vienne) en reconnaissance de ses réalisations artistiques exceptionnelles et a été classée par le New York Times parmi les chorégraphes féminines de l'année. La même année, Yellow Towel est apparue sur la liste «Top Ten Performances» du magazine Time Out New York. Mercurial George, son tout dernier solo, acclamé par la critique, a été présenté en première au Festival TransAmériques (Montréal) en juin 2016. Les deux pièces sont actuellement en tournée.
En juin 2017, Dana Michel a reçu le Lion d'argent pour l'innovation en danse de la Biennale de Venise (Italie). La même année elle rejoint la compagnie Par B.L.eux fondée et dirigée par Benoît Lachambre en tant qu’artiste associée.
