It’s official, the Chef’s Table series of Canal-side concerts at the NAC’s 1 Elgin Restaurant with RBC Bluefest is back this Summer

This exciting collaboration between RBC Bluesfest and the NAC offers an amazing farm-to-table feast created by outstanding chefs paired with live music by fantastic local artists.

Last year’s event turned out to be one of the most memorable events of Ottawa’s 2020 pandemic year. It came together when Mark Monahan, Bluesfest’s Executive Director, reached out to our Nelson Borges, General Manager of Food & Beverage.

Together they came up with an innovative solution to ensure proper social distancing between performers and the audience/diners:  a floating stage moored on the other side of the Rideau Canal.

“We felt that folks deserved a little break from the pandemic,” said Nelson Borges, the NAC’s General Manager of Food & Beverage. “We wanted to offer our guests an amazing night out in a way that felt safe. The idea of having the performers on the water seemed like a really fun way to accomplish this.”

Nelson added: “My favourite part of every concert came as the sun would set behind the Parliament buildings just as diners finished up their meal over coffee and dessert. The performers would then take to the stage and guests, docked boaters, and many people who just happened to be in the right place at the right time, would be treated to an amazing show.”

Top Talent

This year’s event will take place over six consecutive weekends starting August 13th. It will feature meals created by some of Canada’s top culinary talent working collaboratively with our NAC’s Executive Chef, Kenton Leier. They include chefs Nick Benninger (‘Fat Sparrow Group’, Kitchener, ON), Renée Lavallée (‘The Canteen’, Dartmouth, NS) and Joseph Shawana (Manitoulin Island, ON). Performers include Dueling Pianos, The Commotions (featuring Rebecca Noelle) and others.

See you on the water at the 1 Elgin Restaurant!
