Building Bridges. That was the goal in 2007 when National Arts Centre’s Executive Producer of Dance, Cathy Levy, established the Associate Dance Artists program. “Canada is such a vast country that many of our finest choreographers had never met, let alone come together as peers to discuss their work.” This initiative gives them an opportunity to meet and explore ideas with the greatest dancer artists in the world. No longer strangers, Canada’s leading choreographers have become a community of artists. “It is the bridge to a future,” Ms. Levy says, “when emerging and established artists will be connected at home and abroad.”
The program is made possible with the support of the Dance Section of the Canada Council for the Arts.
