  Conductor Jack Everly

  Jack Everly is the Principal Pops Conductor of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Naples Philharmonic (Artis—Naples), and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. He previously served as Principal Pops Conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for 17 seasons. He has conducted the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, the San Francisco Symphony, and numerous appearances with The Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom Music Center.

  Celebrating his 14th year as Music Director of the National Memorial Day Concert and A Capitol Fourth on PBS, Maestro Everly proudly leads the National Symphony Orchestra in these patriotic celebrations on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. These concerts attract hundreds of thousands of attendees on the lawn. The broadcasts reach millions of viewers and are some of the highest-rated programming on PBS television.

  Maestro Everly is also Music Director of the AES Indiana Yuletide Celebration, now a 30-plus year tradition. He led the Indiana Symphony Orchestra in its first Pops recording, Yuletide Celebration, Volume One, which included three of his own orchestrations. Some of his other recordings include In The Presence featuring the Czech Philharmonic and Daniel Rodriguez, Sandi Patty’s Broadway Stories, the soundtrack to Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Everything’s Coming Up Roses: The Complete Overtures of Jule Styne.

  Originally appointed by Mikhail Baryshnikov, Maestro Everly was conductor of the American Ballet Theatre for 14 years, where he served as Music Director. In addition to his ABT tenure, he teamed with Marvin Hamlisch on Broadway shows that Mr. Hamlisch scored. He conducted Carol Channing hundreds of times in Hello, Dolly! in two separate Broadway productions.

  Maestro Everly, a graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Music in 2021 from his alma mater. In addition, he is a recipient of the 2023 Sagamore of the Wabash Award—the State of Indiana’s highest honour, a 2015 Indiana Historical Society Living Legends Award, and holds an Honorary Doctorate of Arts from Franklin College in his home state of Indiana. He is a proud resident of the Indianapolis community, and when not on the podium, you can find Maestro Everly at home with his family.

  Il a dirigé par ailleurs pendant 14 ans l’American Ballet Theatre (ABT), dont il a été le directeur musical, nommé à ce poste par Mikhaïl Barychnikov.   Emmy, Grammy, Tony, and SAG Award nominee Norm Lewis was recently seen onstage starring in the national tour of the Tony Award-winning production of A Soldier’s Play, and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s West End concert of Love Never Dies. He starred in Spike Lee’s critically acclaimed Da 5 Bloods and the groundbreaking FX series Pose. Additionally, Lewis can be seen starring opposite Hilary Swank in the feature The Good Mother, Amazon Prime Video’s newest series Swarm, and Hulu’s Up Here. He was also seen as Caiaphas in the award-winning NBC television special Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert! alongside John Legend, Sara Bareilles, and Alice Cooper. 

  Norm Lewis returned to Broadway in the fall of 2021, starring in Chicken and Biscuits at the Circle in the Square Theatre. He previously appeared in the Broadway revival of Once on This Island and as Sweeney Todd in the off-Broadway production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Barrow Street Theatre, receiving the AUDELCO Award for his performance. In May 2014, he made history as The Phantom of the Opera’s first African American Phantom on Broadway.

  He has been seen on PBS in the Live From Lincoln Center productions of Showboat with Vanessa Williams, Norm Lewis: Who Am I?, New Year’s Eve: A Gershwin Celebration with Diane Reeves, as well as American Voices with Renée Fleming and the PBS Specials First You Dream – The Music of Kander & Ebb and Ella Wishes You A Swingin’ Christmas. He can be seen recurring in the VH1 series Daytime Divas alongside Vanessa Williams. His additional television credits include Women of the Movement, Law & Order, Dr. Death, Mrs. America, Better Things, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Bull, Chicago Med, Gotham, The Blacklist, and Blue Bloods, as well as in his recurring role as Senator Edison Davis on the hit drama Scandal.

  Norm Lewis is a proud founding member of Black Theatre United, an organization which stands together to help protect Black people, Black talent, and Black lives of all shapes and orientations in theatre and communities across the country. He received Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle award nominations for his performance as Porgy in the Broadway production of The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess. Other Broadway credits include Sondheim on Sondheim, The Little Mermaid, Les Misérables, Chicago, Amour, The Wild Party, Side Show, Miss Saigon, and The Who’s Tommy. In London’s West End, he has appeared as Javert in Les Misérables and Les Misérables: The 25th Anniversary Concert, which aired on PBS.   

  Off-Broadway, he has performed in Dessa Rose (Drama Desk nomination, AUDELCO Award), Shakespeare in the Park’s The Tempest, The Two Gentlemen of Verona (Drama League nomination), Captains Courageous, and A New Brain. His regional credits include Porgy in The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess (A.R.T.), Ragtime, Dreamgirls (with Jennifer Holliday), First You Dream, Sweeney Todd, and The Fantasticks. His additional film credits include Christmas in Tune (starring opposite Reba McEntire), Magnum Opus, Winter’s Tale, Sex and the City 2, Confidences, and Preaching to the Choir.

  Co-Host Manon St-Jules

  Manon has led a bilingual career since graduating from the Acting Program of the National Theatre School. Whether in classical or contemporary pieces, she’s collaborated with companies across the country, specifically in Toronto (Canadian Stage, Festival of Classics, Theatre Direct, Pleiades), Montreal (Denise-Pelletier, Centaur, Segal Centre, Usine C) and Sudbury (Sudbury Theatre Centre, Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario). In Ottawa, she’s performed for French and English Theatre at the NAC, Great Canadian Theatre Company (GCTC), Arts Court, Théâtre Catapulte, Rouge Écarlate, and Créations InVivo. She’s hosted concerts with the NAC Orchestra, the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards Gala, and several corporate events across the country. Her work on-camera includes dramatic and comedic parts in film, television, commercials, and various multimedia projects. Recent credits include Pour toi Flora (Radio-Canada), Eaux Turbulentes (ARTV and Radio-Canada), the feature Noël en boîte, and three seasons of the youth TV series Amélie et Compagnie.   

  Along with regular voice work, Manon has done extensive work in translating and adapting various artistic and educational projects. She’s translated plays and librettos and been on the script writing team of three youth TV series, most recently the third season of Gang de hockey (TFO). With her teaching experience at the University of Ottawa’s Theatre Department and coaching both student and professional actors alike, Manon is now transitioning into directing. She’s directed a couple of readings, a production of Aéroportée at the TNO, and assistant directed Benevolence with Eric Coates at the GCTC. She’s currently working alongside French actor Caroline Raynaud to develop a one-woman show. Its first incarnation was presented at the TNO in February 2024.

  Manon St-Jules mène une carrière bilingue depuis sa sortie du programme d’interprétation de l’École nationale de théâtre. Elle a traduit des pièces et des librettos en plus de collaborer à l’écriture de trois séries jeunesse, la dernière en date étant la troisième saison de Gang de hockey (TFO). Forte de son expérience d’enseignante au Département de théâtre de l’Université d’Ottawa et de coach autant en milieu scolaire que professionnel, elle passe maintenant à la mise en scène. Après avoir dirigé quelques mises en lectures et une production d’Aéroportée au TNO et assisté Eric Coates à la mise en scène de Benevolence à la GCTC, elle collabore actuellement avec l’actrice française Caroline Raynaud à la création d’un spectacle solo, dont une première version a été présentée au Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario en février 2024.

  Canada’s National Arts Centre (NAC) Orchestra is praised for the passion and clarity of its performances, its visionary learning and engagement programs, and its unwavering support of Canadian creativity. The NAC Orchestra is based in Ottawa, Canada’s national capital, and has grown into one of the country’s most acclaimed and dynamic ensembles since its founding in 1969. Under the leadership of Music Director Alexander Shelley, the NAC Orchestra reflects the fabric and values of Canada, engaging communities from coast to coast to coast through inclusive programming, compelling storytelling, and innovative partnerships. 

  Since taking the helm in 2015, Shelley has shaped the Orchestra’s artistic vision, building on the legacy of his predecessor, Pinchas Zukerman, who led the ensemble for 16 seasons. Shelley’s influence extends beyond the NAC. He serves as Principal Associate Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the U.K. and Artistic and Music Director of Artis—Naples and the Naples Philharmonic in the U.S. Shelley’s leadership is complemented by Principal Guest Conductor John Storgårds and Principal Youth Conductor Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser.   Stage Manager Tobi Hunt McCoy

  

  Stage Manager Tobi Hunt McCoy

  Tobi Hunt McCoy is enjoying another year as season Stage Manager with the National Arts Centre Orchestra. In past seasons, she stage-managed Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Christopher Plummer in 2001 and Colm Feore in 2014. She co-produced the 1940s Pops show On the Air with Jack Everly for the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, a show they co-produced in 2007 for the NAC Orchestra. 

  In 2018, McCoy made her Southam Hall acting debut in the role of Stage Manager in the Magic Circle Mime Co.’s production of Orchestra from Planet X. Additional professional duties have included aiding Susanna and the Countess in schooling the Count and Figaro on the finer points of marital love during The Marriage of Figaro, keeping her eyes open (for the first time ever) during the flying monkey scene in The Wizard of Oz, mistakenly asking Patrick Watson for proof of identity backstage, holding her breath while marvelling at the athletic ability of the cast during Cirque Goes Broadway, continuing to implement feedback on her British-Columbian French with the choruses of Ottawa, and cheering on Luke and Princess Leia with Charlie Ross, Émilie Fournier, and Eric Osner during the Star Wars Pops concert.

  In her spare time, McCoy is the Head of Arts, Drama, English, and Library at Lisgar Collegiate Institute.

  Tobi Hunt McCoy poursuit sa collaboration saisonnière avec l’Orchestre du CNA à titre de régisseuse. Lors des saisons précédentes, elle a notamment été à la régie pour Le Songe d’une nuit d’été de Mendelssohn avec Christopher Plummer en 2001 et Colm Feore en 2014.   En 2018, McCoy a fait ses débuts de comédienne à la Salle Southam en jouant son propre rôle dans L’Orchestre de la planète X de la Magic Circle Mime Co. Comme régisseuse, elle a fait un peu de tout : aidé Suzanne et la comtesse à expliquer les subtilités de l’amour conjugal au comte et à Figaro dans Les Noces de Figaro; gardé les yeux ouverts (pour la première fois de sa vie) pendant la scène des singes volants dans le Magicien d’Oz; demandé (par erreur!) à Patrick Watson de montrer une pièce d’identité en coulisses; retenu son souffle devant les prouesses des acrobates du Cirque à Broadway; continué d’exercer son français de la Colombie-Britannique grâce aux conseils des choristes d’Ottawa et acclamé Luke et la princesse Leia avec Charlie Ross, Émilie Fournier et Erik Ochsner dans le cadre du concert Pops Star Wars.

  Dans son temps libre, elle s’occupe du département d’arts, d’anglais, de théâtre et de techniques de documentation au Lisgar Collegiate Institute.
