The enormity of Mozart’s legacy is on display with two of the composer’s final and greatest compositions. First, the Orchestra will perform Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony, given its subtitle nickname in homage to the greatest of all Greek gods as this work left audiences mystified by its incredible writing. The concert is paired with another of the composer’s greatest masterpieces, his Requiem, which remained uncompleted at the time of his death. Beloved by audiences regardless of background, the glorious and celestial Requiem for chorus and orchestra remains a truly spiritual masterpiece.
This concert is made possible in part through the generosity of the Darrell Howard Gregersen Choir Fund.
This concert is recorded for delayed broadcast by CBC Radio 2 on the program In Concert heard Sundays starting at 11:00 AM.
