Bodies in Resonance
Multidisciplinary creator Josiane Bernier is invested heart and soul in the contemporary performing arts scene. A graduate of the École de danse de Québec, she has choreographed and danced in several shows, including La fille d’à côté (2018) and (ENTRE) (2016). With the company Les Incomplètes, which she co-founded, she pursues her research on the authenticity of stage presence by addressing, as a performer or creator, an unusual audience—namely, toddlers. She notably charmed these mini-spectators by dancing alongside a double bass in EAUX. Josiane Bernier is also the founder of Bloc.danse, a residency space for artists in all disciplines.
Champion of the Senses
Audrey Marchand is one of the three creative minds who founded Les Incomplètes, an interdisciplinary art company for toddlers, in 2011. She co-wrote and performed more than 250 times the unforgettable show Édredon, which toured internationally. Always looking for new ways to engage infant spectators through the body and the senses, she also contributed as director and playwright to EAUX, Les Matinées berçantes and Depuis la grève. She also co-curated three exhibitions presented at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (Sentiers, Dehors/Dedans and Dans ma maison) that invited young people on a sensory and exploratory journey.
Landscaper of Childhood
She’s an adult joyfully immersed in the world of childhood! Laurence P Lafaille is one of the three founders and codirectors of Les Incomplètes, a company that caters exclusively to the youngest spectators (ages 0–5). As a performer, she appeared in the fabulous Édredon and in Terrier (coproduced by Théâtre du Gros Mécano). As a director and playwright, she has co-created all of Les Incomplètes’ shows, including EAUX, Les Matinées berçantes and Depuis la grève. She is also the curator of Mois Multi, an international festival of multidisciplinary and electronic arts, where she is responsible for programming the young audience component.
