After J'aime Hydro, Christine Beaulieu offers a new text about the salmon of the Mitis River. Combining science, history and poetry, this ecological fable invites audience members to put themselves in the skins of wild salmon, discover their impressive journey, and imagine how humans have transformed their reality. A powerful show for all audiences.

The show will be preceded by Bedřich Smetana’s famous romantic symphonic poem Vltava (The Moldau), performed by the NAC Orchestra conducted by Alexander Shelley. The work is a musical portrait of the peaceful river that flows through Prague and much of Bohemia in the Czech Republic.

It will be followed by a symphonic version of the original piece Guide My Way by multidisciplinary artist Corey Payette, a member of the Mattagami First Nation.

Next will be Les saumons de la Mitis (The Salmon of the Mitis River), performed by Christine Beaulieu and accompanied by two pieces of music: Muskwa’s Mountain Home by Jessica McMann, and The Blood Alchemist Wateraga by Sonny-Ray Day Rider, with special guest Corey Payette on hand drum and vocals.

Soprano Elisabeth St-Gelais and the Capital Chamber Choir will round off the evening with two pieces by Ian Cusson: Ziibiwan, which takes us to the heart of the Métis territory in Manitoba, and In Winter, which contrasts the harshness of winter with the rebirth of spring.

Following the show, join Christine Beaulieu and the creative team for a talkback onstage in Southam Hall, hosted by the Artistic Director of NAC French Theatre, Mani Soleymanlou.
