Happy Canada Day! On July 1, join us for a free concert downtown in the nation’s capital. Alexander Shelley will lead the NAC Orchestra featuring JUNO Award-winning artist iskwē, mezzo soprano Alex Hetherington, and the bilingual slam poet and songwriter YAO.
Did we mention this concert is absolutely FREE? No need for tickets or registrations. The Canada Day Concert is a yearly tradition that always brings together music lovers of all ages and creates unforgettable memories.
The NAC Orchestra will also be performing music by great Canadian composers like Iman Habibi, Rita Ueda, and Ana Sokolović. The concert will conclude with Hymn to Freedom, by the late, great Oscar Peterson, and more exciting repertoire will be announced from the stage. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to come together once again to share in our love of music with some of Canada’s finest young musicians shining from the Southam Hall stage.
Public Transit: There will be free service on OC Transpo buses, O-Train Line 1, and Para Transpo all day on Canada Day.
Traffic & Parking: While some roads will be closed downtown, the NAC building and parking garage will remain accessible. Please visit the City of Ottawa website for the latest updates.
