Ben Crawford’s Broadway credits include The Phantom of the Opera, Shrek the Musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Les Misérables. Nick Adams is a veteran of the Broadway stage and starred as Felicia in the Tony Award–winning original cast of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Katie Scarlett Swaney has appeared in a wide range of musicals across the US, including Bonnie and Clyde, Jersey Boys, Newsies, and Mary Poppins.

Ted Keegan starred in the National Tour of The Phantom of the Opera following a very successful run in the Broadway Company. Among other credits, he has performed the role in over 24 States across the country and has had the great pleasure of appearing as the Phantom on television, performing live from Rockefeller Center for the Today Show on NBC.

Sharing the stage for this exciting concert is Ottawa’s own Ewashko Singers, one of the most flexible vocal ensembles you’ll ever hear, who perform across a wide range of musical genres—from Beethoven and Verdi, to Richard Rogers and Howard Shore.

Jack Everly is the Principal Pops Conductor of the Indianapolis and Baltimore Symphony orchestras, the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. He has conducted the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, the San Francisco Symphony, and numerous appearances with the Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom Music Center. Maestro Everly conducts over 90 performances in more than 22 North American cities every season.

Celebrating his 10th anniversary as Music Director of the National Memorial Day Concert and A Capitol Fourth on PBS, Maestro Everly proudly leads the National Symphony Orchestra (USA) in these patriotic celebrations on the National Mall. These concerts attract hundreds of thousands of attendees on the lawn, and the broadcasts reach millions of viewers and are some of the highest-rated programs on PBS television.

Maestro Everly is also the Music Director of the IPL Yuletide Celebration, now a 30+ year tradition. He led the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in its first Pops recording, Yuletide Celebration, Volume One, which included three of his own orchestrations. Some of his other recordings include In The Presence featuring the Czech Philharmonic and Daniel Rodriguez, Sandi Patty’s Broadway Stories, the soundtrack to Disneyʼs The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Everythingʼs Coming Up Roses: The Complete Overtures Of Jule Styne.

Originally appointed by Mikhail Baryshnikov, Maestro Everly was conductor of the American Ballet Theatre for 14 years, where he served as Music Director. In addition to his ABT tenure, he teamed with Marvin Hamlisch on Broadway shows that Mr. Hamlisch scored. He conducted Carol Channing hundreds of times in Hello, Dolly! in two separate Broadway productions.

Maestro Everly, a graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, is a recipient of the 2015 Indiana Historical Society Living Legends Award and holds an Honorary Doctorate of Arts from Franklin College in his home state of Indiana. He is a proud resident of the Indianapolis community, and when not on the podium, you can find Maestro Everly at home with his family.

Nick Adams is an award-winning actor, singer, and dancer. He co-stars as Cooper in the critically acclaimed Searchlight feature film Fire Island (Gotham Award winner, People’s Choice Award Nominee Comedy of the Year, GLAAD Award Nominee). Notably, he originated and starred as Adam/Felicia in the Tony-winning Broadway musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert, which earned him an honor from the American Theater Hall of Fame, two Broadway Audience Choice Awards, and an Astaire Award nomination for Best Dancer on Broadway. He received national critical acclaim for his portrayal of Whizzer in the North American Tour of Lincoln Center Theatre’s Broadway production of Falsettos (dir. James Lapine). Nick was the final actor to star as Fiyero in the First National Touring production of Wicked. He recently originated the role of Alexis Gilmore in the Broadway World Award-winning world premiere of Drag The Musical! in Hollywood, CA, and can be heard on the studio cast album. He also originated the role of Damian in the world premiere of Mary and Max at Theatre Calgary. Nick was one of the founding members of the Forest of Arden acting company and performed the new work American Dream Study under the direction of Michael Arden.

Ben Crawford started his Broadway career when he covered the roles of Jean Valjean and Javert in the Broadway revival of Les Misérables at the Broadhurst Theatre. Since then, he’s played the titular character in Shrek, been a big bully in Big Fish, ran around like a sane lunatic in On the Twentieth Century, fathered a spoiled brat in Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, and he was blessed to be the Phantom in Broadway’s The Phantom of the Opera, which closed in April after its 35 years on Broadway. Ben’s other credits include 110 in the Shade, Hello Dolly, Assassins, Merrily We Roll Along, South Pacific, Beauty & The Beast, and Oklahoma! Ted Keegan is proud to be Broadway’s Number 12 Phantom! Ted is a native of Watertown, New York with an undergraduate degree from Ithaca College and a graduate degree from University of North Carolina-Greensboro. He was last seen as the Phantom in Phantom the Las Vegas Spectacular. He starred in the National Tour of The Phantom of the Opera following a very successful run in the Broadway Company. Ted has performed the role in over 24 States across the country. He has had the great pleasure of appearing as the Phantom on television, performing live from Rockefeller Center for the Today Show on NBC. And he has the distinction of being the actor who has sung the role in front of the largest audience ever, when he made a spectacular flying entrance from the dome of Madison Square Garden singing “The Phantom of the Opera” during the half-time show of the NBA All-Star Game. Ted was deeply involved in the George Gershwin Centennial Celebration. He performed unpublished Gershwin at the opening of the George and Ira Gershwin Room at the National Archives in Washington, DC, which The New York Times reviewed as one of the ten best musical events of the year.

Ted has also sung Gershwin with Audra McDonald in New York and with Marin Mazzie at the opening of the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. He appeared in the Frank Loesser Celebration at Symphony Space in New York City and was a soloist at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall, singing unheard Bernstein. Ted hosted the Yuletide Celebration in Indianapolis, singing with the 90-piece Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. A few of the orchestras Ted has performed with as a solo performer include the Detroit, Syracuse, Charleston WV, Portland, Pittsburgh, Ottawa, Omaha, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Fort Worth, and Edmonton symphony orchestras, the Dayton Philharmonic, and the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center. Ted made his Broadway debut in the highly acclaimed revival of Sweeney Todd, where he was seen as Anthony. Other Broadway and National Tour credits include Cyrano: The Musical, Mordred in Camelot with Robert Goulet, Freddy in My Fair Lady, Herman in The Most Happy Fella, Constantine in Hollywood/Ukraine, and another Phantom too—in the European Tour of the Kopit/Yeston version.

Katie also recently performed as a featured artist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Naples Philharmonic.

Formed in 1992 for a live broadcast marking 50 years of Radio Canada International, Ewashko Singers has developed into one of the most flexible vocal ensembles in the National Capital Region.

From Beethoven, Mahler, and Verdi to Richard Rodgers and Howard Shore, they skillfully perform music across a wide range of genres and languages. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Laurence Ewashko, Ewashko Singers regularly highlights Canadian composers and showcases young Canadian talent. In addition to their own concerts, they often collaborate with other local choirs and music ensembles. Recent highlights with the National Arts Centre Orchestra include the Juno Award–winning live recording of Ana Sokolović’s Golden slumbers kiss your eyes, and Harry Somers’s opera Louis Riel as part of Canada 150 celebrations.

Nés en 1992 à l’occasion d’un événement diffusé en direct pour les 50 ans de Radio Canada International, les Ewashko Singers sont devenus l’un des ensembles vocaux les plus polyvalents de la région de la capitale nationale.

Former conductor of the Vienna Boys’ Choir and Cantata Singers of Ottawa, Laurence Ewashko celebrates his 35th season of choral activity in the National Capital Region. As a choral clinician, vocal coach and adjudicator, he makes a significant contribution to the quality and appreciation of vocal music in Canada and abroad. Laurence has prepared choruses for many prestigious conductors, as he regularly does at the National Arts Centre.

A Full Professor of Choral Studies at the University of Ottawa, he conducts the School of Music’s two choirs. Laurence is a recipient of the prestigious Leslie Bell Prize for Choral Conducting and numerous awards from the Canada Council of the Arts. He is the founding conductor of Ewashko Singers which was established in 1992.

Ancien chef de chœur des Petits chanteurs de Vienne et des Cantata Singers of Ottawa, Laurence Ewashko fête cette année ses 35 ans d’activités chorales dans la région de la capitale nationale. Il œuvre à faire connaître et aimer une musique vocale de qualité, au Canada et à l’étranger, grâce à ses talents d’animateur d’ateliers choraux, de répétiteur et de membre de jurys. Ce fidèle collaborateur du Centre national des Arts a préparé de nombreux chœurs pour de grands chefs d’orchestre.

Professeur titulaire en études chorales à l’Université d’Ottawa, il dirige les deux chœurs de l’École de musique. Laurence Ewashko a reçu le prestigieux prix Leslie-Bell pour la direction chorale et de nombreuses récompenses du Conseil des arts du Canada. Il est le chef fondateur des Ewashko Singers, ensemble fondé en 1992.

Manon has led a bilingual career since graduating from the Acting Program of the National Theatre School. Whether in classical or contemporary pieces, she’s collaborated with companies across the country, specifically Toronto (Canadian Stage, Festival of Classics, Theatre Direct, Pleiades), Montreal (Denise-Pelletier, Centaur, Segal Centre, Usine C) and Sudbury (STC, TNO). In Ottawa, she’s performed for French and English Theatre at the NAC, GCTC, Arts Court, la Catapulte, Rouge Écarlate and Créations InVivo. She’s hosted concerts with the NAC Orchestra, the GG’s Performing Arts Awards Gala and several corporate events throughout the country. Her work on-camera includes dramatic as well as comedic parts in film, television, commercials and various multimedia projects. Recent credits include: Pour toi Flora (SRC), Eaux Turbulentes (ARTV and SRC), the feature Noël en boîte as well as three seasons of the youth tv series Amélie et Compagnie.

Along with regular voice work, Manon has done extensive work in translating and adapting various artistic and educational projects. She’s translated plays and librettos, as well as having been on the script writing team of 3 youth tv series, most recently the second season of Gang de hockey (TFO). With her teaching experience at the University of Ottawa’s Theatre Department, as well as coaching both student and professional actors alike, Manon is now transitioning into directing. She’s directed a couple of readings, a production of Aéroportée at the TNO, as well as assistant-directed Benevolence with Eric Coates at the GCTC. She’s currently working alongside French actor Caroline Raynaud to develop a one-woman show; its first incarnation was presented at the TNO in February 2024.

Manon St-Jules mène une carrière bilingue depuis sa sortie du programme d’interprétation de l’École nationale de théâtre. Que ce soit dans des œuvres du répertoire classique ou contemporain, elle collabore avec des compagnies de tout le pays, plus particulièrement à Toronto (Canadian Stage, Festival of Classics, Theatre Direct, Pleiades), Montréal (Théâtre Denise-Pelletier, Centaur, Centre Segal, Usine C) et Sudbury (Sudbury Theatre Centre, Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario). À Ottawa, elle s’est produite avec le Théâtre français et le Théâtre anglais du CNA, à la Great Canadian Theatre Company (GCTC), à la Cour des arts, au Théâtre Catapulte, au Théâtre Rouge Écarlate et avec Créations In Vivo. Elle a animé des concerts de l’Orchestre du CNA, le Gala des Prix du Gouverneur général pour les arts du spectacle ainsi que de nombreux événements professionnels à travers le pays. Elle tient par ailleurs des rôles dramatiques et comiques au cinéma, à la télévision et dans des publicités, et collabore à divers projets multimédias. On a récemment pu la voir dans Pour toi Flora (Radio-Canada), Eaux turbulentes (ARTV et Radio-Canada), le long métrage Noël en boîte ainsi que trois saisons de la série jeunesse Amélie et compagnie.

Également actrice vocale, Manon St-Jules a aussi assuré la traduction et l’adaptation de divers projets artistiques et éducatifs. Elle a traduit des pièces et des librettos en plus de collaborer à l’écriture de trois séries jeunesse, la dernière en date étant la deuxième saison de Gang de hockey (TFO). Forte de son expérience d’enseignante au Département de théâtre de l’Université d’Ottawa et de coach autant en milieu scolaire que professionnel, elle passe maintenant à la mise en scène. Après avoir dirigé quelques mises en lectures et une production d’Aéroportée au TNO et assisté Eric Coates à la mise en scène de Benevolence à la GCTC, elle collabore actuellement avec l’actrice française Caroline Raynaud à la création d’un spectacle solo, dont une première version a été présentée au Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario en février 2024.

Stage Manager Tobi Hunt McCoy

Tobi Hunt McCoy is enjoying another year as Season Stage Manager with the National Arts Centre Orchestra. In past seasons, she stage-managed Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Christopher Plummer in 2001 and Colm Feore in 2014. She co-produced the 1940s Pops show On the Air with Jack Everly for the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, a show they co-produced in 2007 for the NAC Orchestra.

In 2018 McCoy made her Southam Hall acting debut in the role of Stage Manager in the Magic Circle Mime Co.’s production of Orchestra from Planet X. Additional professional duties have included aiding Susanna and the Countess in schooling the Count and Figaro on the finer points of marital love during The Marriage of Figaro, keeping her eyes open (for the first time ever) during the flying monkey scene in The Wizard of Oz, mistakenly asking Patrick Watson for proof of identity backstage, holding her breath while marvelling at the athletic ability of the cast during Cirque Goes Broadway, continuing to implement feedback on her British-Columbian French with the choruses of Ottawa, and cheering on Luke and Princess Leia with Charlie Ross, Émilie Fournier, and Eric Osner during the Star Wars Pops concert.

In her spare time, McCoy is the Head of Arts, Drama, English, and Library at Lisgar Collegiate Institute.

Tobi Hunt McCoy poursuit sa collaboration saisonnière avec l’Orchestre du CNA à titre de régisseuse. Lors des saisons précédentes, elle a notamment été à la régie pour Le Songe d’une nuit d’été de Mendelssohn avec Christopher Plummer en 2001 et Colm Feore en 2014. Pour l’Orchestre symphonique d’Edmonton, elle a assuré avec Jack Everly la coproduction de La belle époque de la radio, un concert Pops de musique des années 1940 qu’ils avaient produit ensemble en 2007 pour l’Orchestre du CNA.

En 2018, McCoy a fait ses débuts de comédienne à la Salle Southam en jouant son propre rôle dans L’Orchestre de la planète X de la Magic Circle Mime Co. Comme régisseuse, elle a fait un peu de tout : aidé Suzanne et la comtesse à expliquer les subtilités de l’amour conjugal au comte et à Figaro dans Les Noces de Figaro; gardé les yeux ouverts (pour la première fois de sa vie) pendant la scène des singes volants dans le Magicien d’Oz; demandé (par erreur!) à Patrick Watson de montrer une pièce d’identité en coulisses; retenu son souffle devant les prouesses des acrobates du Cirque à Broadway; continué d’exercer son français de la Colombie-Britannique grâce aux conseils des choristes d’Ottawa et acclamé Luke et la princesse Leia avec Charlie Ross, Émilie Fournier et Erik Ochsner dans le cadre du concert Pops Star Wars.

Dans son temps libre, elle s’occupe du département d’arts, d’anglais, de théâtre et de techniques de documentation au Lisgar Collegiate Institute.
