The NAC Orchestra is celebrating 50 years with free activities all week long. See the full list here.
This spectacular evening of music celebrates the prowess of the NAC Orchestra after 50 remarkable years by shining a light on the singular virtuosity of its members. With a program chosen specifically to showcase the phenomenal agility of the National Arts Centre Orchestra at 50 years young, we honour the organization and the individuals who have championed creativity and excellence in music at all levels – from the classroom to the concert hall.
All stops are pulled for a performance of Lutosławski’s monumental Concerto for Orchestra, starring all parts of the orchestral body – from commanding percussion to airy strings and woodwinds, and from jubilant brass to growling bass. Prepare to be awed by the virtuosity of your NAC Orchestra as we celebrate a half century of making beautiful music together.
Principal Guest Conductor John Storgårds brings a Nordic flair to the NAC, inviting the Orchestra brass to open the program with a fanfare by Faroe Islands composer Sunleif Rasmussen.
