Fusing old-world sounds with new-world flair, Quantum Tangle weaves a tapestry of stories, music, and movement that explores the ever-changing face of what it means to be an Indigenous person in Canada today.

Winners of the 2017 JUNO Award for Indigenous Album of the Year, this Yellowknife-based duo combines throat singing, haunting melodies, and traditional legends to challenge, educate, and encourage the next generation to be socially aware. In pieces that look back through history, Tiffany Ayalik charismatically brings her stories to life with Inuit throat-singing, while guitarist Grey Gritt infuses their music with soulful Métis blues.

Quantum Tangle delivers a circumpolar mix of flavours from across Canada and Greenland, exploring themes as diverse as treaty rights and Northern legends to having more than one identity and learning to navigate the “strange waters” of individuality.

This concert is part of Canada Scene’s free Scene@6 series. Running every evening at 6:00 from July 2 to 23, the series showcases this country’s top folk, roots, world, and jazz artists in the NAC’s new Atrium.
