Originally from Toronto, Dr. Rachel O’Connor is currently based in Los Angeles, California where she performs with orchestras and for top industry clients such as Netflix, AppleTV and Coachella. She has appeared with the Phoenix Symphony as Assistant Principal horn, and has played with the National Repertory Orchestra and the National Academy Orchestra of Canada. Her research has won her the American Musicological Society’s Irving Lowens Award.

Dr. Rachel O’Connor is a French hornist who has performed internationally as a soloist and orchestral musician. She is currently based in Los Angeles, California, where she performs with orchestras and for top industry clients such as Netflix, AppleTV and Coachella. She also recently appeared with the Phoenix Symphony as Assistant Principal horn. She was also a member of the National Repertory Orchestra in 2021 and the National Academy Orchestra of Canada from 2015-2018. Rachel recently earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Horn and Master’s of Musicology from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. Rachel also enjoys doing research and won the American Musicological Society’s Irving Lowens Award in 2021 for her research on the forced migration of El-Sistema trained Venezuelan musicians. In 2019 Rachel was the recipient of the Presser Graduate Music Award, which she used to do a teaching artist tour in Chile, Peru, Bolivia, and Mexico. When Rachel isn’t practicing or teaching, she enjoys spending time with her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
La corniste Racher O’Connor, Ph. D., s’est produite à l’international comme soliste et musicienne d’orchestre. Elle vit actuellement à Los Angeles, en Californie, où elle joue avec des orchestres et pour des entreprises et événements importants de l’industrie, comme Netflix, AppleTV et le Festival de Coachella. Récemment, on a pu la voir avec l’Orchestre symphonique de Phoenix en tant que cor solo associée. Elle a aussi été membre du National Repertory Orchestra en 2021 et de l’Académie nationale du Canada de 2015 à 2018. Rachel est titulaire d’un doctorat en arts musicaux (cor) et d’une maîtrise en musicologie du Conservatoire Peabody de l’Université Johns Hopkins. Rachel est aussi chercheuse et a remporté le prix Irving Lowens de l’American Musicological Society en 2021 pour ses recherches sur la migration forcée des artistes de musique vénézuéliens formés par l’organisation El Sistema. En 2019, elle a remporté la bourse de la Fondation Presser destinées aux élèves de deuxième cycle en musique, qu’elle a utilisée pour faire une tournée à titre d’artiste enseignante au Chili, au Pérou, en Bolivie et au Mexique. En dehors de la musique et de l’enseignement, Rachel aime passer du temps avec son Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
