This season, construction noise has finally been replaced by the sound of silence at the NAC. Every Monday morning at 7:30 am, a small but growing group of community members drop into the new NAC atrium for a free Movement in Meditation class.
“It’s for everyone and every body,” says instructor Siôned Watkins, a professional dancer and choreographer. Watkins is also a certified trainer in the Gyrotonic™ method, a type of exercise that combines elements from yoga, dance, gymnastics, swimming and t’ai chi. The benefits of the meditation is no doubt enhanced by the bright and calming surroundings overlooking some of the most beautiful views of our nation’s capital. Movement in Meditation is one of the increasing number of free community activities to be offered at the new National Arts Centre.
