The NAC Orchestra is proud to celebrate an extraordinary milestone: violinist Karoly Sziladi, a founding member of the Orchestra, has reached an incredible 55 years of service. From the very first notes played at the NAC’s inaugural performance in 1969 to countless concerts that have delighted audiences worldwide, Karoly has been a steadfast presence in our ensemble.

Karoly has been at the heart of the Orchestra’s history, witnessing its evolution and growth while contributing his unparalleled artistry, unwavering dedication, and passion for music. His remarkable career includes performances in Canada and abroad, spanning a repertoire as diverse as the audiences he has touched. Karoly’s exceptional career is a shining example of lifelong dedication to the pursuit of musical excellence, leaving an enduring legacy that continues to inspire both his colleagues and audiences alike.

During a recent event at the National Arts Centre, Karoly was honoured with a standing ovation and a bouquet of flowers from President and CEO Christopher Deacon, a heartfelt gesture from his colleagues and audience members alike. This moment was a fitting tribute to a musician whose talent and dedication have left an indelible mark on the NAC Orchestra.
