Like most boys NAC Orchestra violinist Brian Boychuk and his brother Ron grew up with comic books. However neither of them had any idea that years later they would be professional cartoonists credited with creating smiles across North America as people thumbed through their morning papers.
The project started with Brian who developed almost 200 cartoon concepts during a vacation. Together with his brother and artist Ronnie Martin they refined the ideas and eventually became syndicated. Producing producing 365 comics a year is a huge challenge for Brian and Ron who have full-time careers. "Being funny is not funny." says Brian, but the brothers remain very close while continuing to run their business.

It is clear that their work is carefully crafted; the attention to detail and fine-tuning of each pen stroke and word comes naturally to a professional musician like Brian. Their latest book Return of the Chuckle Bros marks their 10 year anniversary and it also celebrates the achievement of Ron who has taken on the role of illustrator in addition to co-author. Return of the Chuckle Bros finds humour in a huge range of topics; from sports and music to everyday life, it takes the reader into a world that is a little bit zany and a whole lot of fun.
