“I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know the women in the Global Network of Women and Non-Binary Producers for the last year over Zoom,” said Erin Costelo, an award-winning producer from Halifax, Nova Scotia. “Our in-person meeting in Sweden was so much more inspiring than I could have imagined. Aside from the incredible networking and learning opportunities provided, this trip was a chance to connect on a deeper level with women I’ve grown to know throughout the year, I’ve gained lifelong friendships with women who I will learn from, support and grow with throughout my career.”

Erin joined six other Canadians and 12 fellow producers from Estonia, Argentina and Sweden from August 28 to September 4 as part of the NAC’s Global Network for Women Music Producers. Career-enhancing experiences included studio sessions at the world-renowned Cow Pow Studios (co-owned by legendary songwriter and Producer Max Martin); artistic workshops in recording music studios across Stockholm; performances at one of Scandinavia’s biggest showcase festivals; and networking sessions with some of the most renowned and respected music producers in Sweden.

Katharine Fountain, a Canadian electronic producer, singer and songwriter, led a workshop on sound design for her peers. She said “Sweden week exceeded my expectations. After spending a year getting to know the other producers on Zoom, being able to come together in such a wonderful place was truly a dream. I left with both new friends and a renewed sense of creative direction. I can’t wait to see what comes next for the Producers Program.”

The second edition of in-person events will take place in Canada in 2023, where we will welcome female and non-binary music producers from around the world for a week of networking and studio collaborations in some of Canada’s most respected music studios.
