Ages 8 and up –  Are you familiar with monarchs, the pretty orange-coloured butterflies that arrive with the summer sun? Their spectacular migration from the mountains of Mexico to Canada is a truly unique phenomenon. The journey covers thousands of miles and occurs over the lifespan of three or four generations of the butterfly, each one transmitting to the next the migration route to follow.

Amélie refuses to talk. To cope with the absence of her father, a dreamer who died too young, the little girl has cloaked herself in a cocoon of silence. Speechless, not ONE SINGLE WORD.

But inside that chrysalis lurk several stories. These include the story of her father, who as a child wanted to conquer the skies and become an airline pilot; the story of Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic; as well as Leonardo de Vinci, Charles Lindbergh and other bold dreamers. And so the metamorphosis takes place, and Amélie quietly re-establishes contact with the world.

Nœuds papillon forms a delicate bow that takes flight, evoking dreams, pluck and courage as a salve to soothe sorrow. Onstage are two actors and a dancer. Klervi Thienpont and Nicolas Germain-Marchand respectively play Amélie and her father, while Marie-Eve Carrière portrays with grace and lightness a series of fleeting images.

The show pays tribute to those who have gone before us as it sketches a portrait of rich possibilities. An ode to life, and to the passion of simply being alive.
