Northern glamour hits the runway in a stylish showcase of fashion from across the territories!

If you think fashion in the North is nothing but down parkas and Sorels, think again! NWT designer Jamie Look has curated a runway fashion show that brings together the very best of the contemporary northern style scene. Traditional sewing is updated in dazzling, graphic beadwork; sealskin becomes a funky bomber-style jacket; and luxurious qiviuk spun from the soft undercoat of the muskox is knitted into stunning wraps.

This one-of-a-kind show draws on the talents of both emerging and professionally trained designers whose inspirations are firmly located in the North, and those whose flair for design and eye for innovation with materials has been an inspiration to the younger generation. From Yukon’s Sho Sho Esquiro, whose hip-hop inspired work is worn by celebrities, to Nunavut’s Rannva, whose unusual and elegant fur designs have been featured in Toronto Fashion Week, these designers are merging the traditional with the contemporary in eye-catching fashion that defeats stereotypes.

Gorgeous designs, eye-catching jewelry, DJs, live music and, of course, stunning models, all add up to 45 minutes of unforgettable northern style.

Designers include: Brenda Lee Asp, Sho Sho Esquiro, Sherlyn Kadjuk, Faith Kakuktinniq, Jamie Look, Qiviuk, Rannva E. Simonsen, Jessica Vellenga, Mary Ekho Wilman, Sarah Erasmus, and pieces from the D'Arcy Moses Retrospective Collection
