As the curtain rises, and you hear the choir’s first notes of Claudio Monteverdi’s Baroque masterpiece Vespers, 1610, you will be mesmerized by this new full-length ballet. Renowned choreographer James Kudelka creates a mythology-infused world reminiscent of a gilded Renaissance tapestry, where dancers in larger-than-life masks explore humankind’s relationship with the natural and spiritual worlds. Vespers features the legendary prima ballerina Evelyn Hart, gracefully captivating the audience as Everywoman, a central role created just for her.

Did you know: Including Vespers, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet has commissioned 18 full length ballets in the last 20 years.
