Atlantic Canada has a rich tradition of storytelling, and a rising tide of inspiring, independent films is being made there. Atlantic Film Waves will showcase some of these works from exciting new voices – films that are rooted firmly in place, telling stories of love, mortality, life journeys, dysfunctional families, identity, and more.

Selected films include works by Nova Scotia’s Leah Johnston and Koumbie; Prince Edward Island’s Dave Ward and Millefiore Clarkes; Newfoundland’s Martine Blue, Wanda Nolan, and Jenina MacGillivray; and New Brunswick’s Jillian Acreman, Lisa Jodoin, and Jon Dewar.

Atlantic Film Waves is curated by Tony Merzetti, executive director of the New Brunswick Filmmakers’ Co-operative in Fredericton and a programmer for the Silver Wave Film Festival.
