As we celebrate our country’s 150th anniversary, Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra is pleased to partner with many organizations across the country to bring to life the theme of this tour – Canada is our Stage - through 150 education and engagement events. We will connect with music lovers of all ages through collaborative performances, meaningful discussions, chamber and choir performances, workshops and masterclasses.
The NAC Orchestra will perform inspiring concerts with youth orchestras, choirs and special musical guests from coast to coast.
The tour will feature events focused on reconciliation through the arts, including two Indigenous Performing Artist Summits in St. John and Winnipeg and cross-Canada performances of I Lost My Talk, based on the poem by Mi’kmaq elder Rita Joe, C.M.
The tour will include student matinees, masterclasses, workshops, coaching sessions and school performances, as well as professional development for music educators.
“I am delighted to be supporting the education and outreach work of Canada's NAC Orchestra on the Canada Tour, encouraging the love of music as well as music making. Music and the arts build bridges between different cultures and backgrounds for people of all ages. It's vital that young people be inspired to learn, to dream, to be part of a team and to have fun, while they're at it.” Dasha Shenkman OBE, Education Partner
