Ottawa, ON, October 28, 2011 – After a spectacular run at the Belfry Theatre in Victoria, the NAC English Theatre is proud to open the 2011-12 Studio series with the English-language premiere of Michel Nadeau’s And Slowly Beauty..., translated by Maureen Labonté. 

Described as “Magical…everything theatre should be... (4 of 4 stars)” by the Globe and Mail and “…infinitely rich…superbly realized... (5 of 5 stars)” by the Times Colonist, And Slowly Beauty... is a revelation on the transformative power of art in our everyday life.

Imagine:  you are Mr. Mann, and you’ve just won two tickets to Chekhov’s comedy, Three Sisters. You’ve barely heard of Chekhov, but you go anyway (alone, because no one else in the family is interested).  Unexpectedly the experience begins to alter your life, and -- slowly beauty….

Can beauty actually reveal a new way to see the world?
This play opens a window onto the answer.

And Slowly Beauty…, a marvellous and moving example of how art can change our lives, plays in the NAC Studio November 7 - 19, 2011.

Featuring Mary-Colin Chisholm, Dennis Fitzgerald, Caroline Gillis, Christian Murray, Thomas Olajide and Celine Stubel.

Working with Director Michael Shamata to bring this new translation to the stage are Designer John Ferguson; Lighting Designer Michael Walton; Sound Designer Brooke Maxwell; Associate Designer Tamara Marie Kucheran; Stage Manager Jane Vanstone Osborn.
