The first ‘Music for a Sunday Afternoon’ concert of the NAC’s 2010-2011 season features NAC Orchestra principal cello Amanda Forsyth, who has graciously agreed to step in and replace previously announced guest cellist Johannes Moser. Concertmaster Yosuke Kawasaki and guest pianist Vadim Serebryany will also be featured in the popular Sunday afternoon concert, which features music by Samuel Barber, Toru Takemitsu, Leoš Janá?ek, Malcolm Forsyth, and Robert Schumann. NAC Orchestra musicians also featured in the concert are Joanna G’froerer, flute; Charles Hamann, oboe; Kimball Sykes, clarinet; Lawrence Vine, horn; and Christopher Millard, bassoon.

The concert takes place in the Auditorium of the National Gallery of Canada at 2 p.m. on Sunday November 21. Tickets are $31.21 for adults and $15.60 for students with Student ID; they can be purchased at the National Arts Centre Box Office in advance or, if available, at the door on the day of the concert.

There has also been a slight change of repertoire. The concert now features:

This Music for a Sunday Afternoon concert will be recorded by Radio-Canada’s music radio network Espace musique (102.5 FM) for future broadcast.
