National Arts Centre Changes Street Address to 1 Elgin
The National Arts Centre (NAC) today announced it has changed its street address from 53 Elgin Street to 1 Elgin as part of its ongoing architectural rejuvenation.
The NAC will use the bilingual “1 Elgin” on its corporate stationery, online and print materials that need to convey the address as clearly and quickly as possible. Alternately, the NAC will use “One Elgin” for select creative applications that involve storytelling. The word “One” will be spelled out fully and written in an uppercase/lowercase style, not ONE.
“As with any organization, the National Arts Centre strives to communicate clearly and effectively all
we have to offer, and that includes how to find us,” said Peter Herrndorf, NAC President and CEO. “With a major renovation underway, we were given the opportunity to change our address from 53 to 1 Elgin Street. This makes sense on several levels. First and perhaps most obvious: 1 is easier to remember than 53. Secondly, the Elgin Street entrance of the new National Arts Centre will present an open and elegant façade embracing one of the most historic and beautiful urban streetscapes in Canada. Finally, in all of its artistic programming, the NAC strives to develop and present the finest performing arts in the country. For it is only by doing so every day that we earn the phrase: Canada is our stage.”
NAC MAILING ADDRESS REMAINS UNCHANGED
The civic address change will not affect the delivery or mail to the NAC. Although the NAC’s physical civic address has changed, the Centre’s mailing address – its post office box and postal code – remains unchanged. In order to minimize waste, NAC employees will use existing stocks of printed materials featuring the old address – for example letterhead and business cards – until they run out. The replacement of printed materials will be done using existing budgets.
