Executive Chef John Morris Leaves NAC to Join Family, Start New Job in Toronto

Chef John Morris has decided to leave his position as Executive Chef of the National Arts Centre (NAC) to join his new and growing family in Toronto. Later this month, John will take on the leadership of the culinary team at Toronto’s iconic CN Tower restaurants. His last day at the NAC will be February 12th.

“Chef Morris has a wonderful talent for creating imaginative cuisine,” said Peter Herrndorf, President and CEO of the NAC. “Over the last three years he has greatly contributed to our efforts to grow the NAC’s reputation as an outstanding food destination in the National Capital Region. And we truly appreciated the way he mentored younger members of the NAC kitchen team. We wish him well in his new life in Toronto.”

Chef Morris’ leadership strengthened the NAC’s culinary offerings and set a solid foundation for years to come. Under his leadership, his team flawlessly executed many high-profile and complex events such as the NAC and Governor General’s galas, the Ontario Culinary Challenge and the annual 4th of July garden party at the US Ambassador’s residence. His team and peers will miss his good humour, creativity and passion for food.

The NAC’s Executive Sous Chef, Martin Levesque, will oversee the day-to-day culinary operation until a new Executive chef is appointed.
