Shake the JAR.
Bye-bye daily life devoid of fantasy! The Théâtre français at the NAC presents Le projet bocal, a show where the logical and the rational take a holiday. Flipped on its head by the imaginations of the three writers and actors Sonia Cordeau, Simon Lacroix and Raphaëlle Lalande, the stage becomes a distorting jar that, like a funhouse mirror, twists the commonplace into something new and strange.
Monologues, poems and absurd tunes are combined in all sorts of variations. Flirting with the fantastic, they turn our small frights and big fears into a glorious celebration, presented at the NAC Studio from February 18 to 21 at 8 p.m.
An empty jar that generates anxiety. A horror scene where twins in nightdresses are unable to fall asleep. The crazed tale of Jeanne in the throes of “clementitis”, a strange illness caused by clementine oranges. Or that of Julie, a shy young girl who presents séances in a planetarium. Le Projet Bocal offers a voyage to the unexpected along with lots of old-fashioned fun.
It is surely the most playful and bizarre theatre piece currently playing in town ! And if you still have access to your inner child, you’ll have a lot of fun seeing this series of short scenes and musical numbers. Even though they really don’t make sense, they sure are entertaining !

Le Projet Bocal is the first presentation by the young company of the same name, which consists of Sonia Cordeau, Raphaëlle Lalande and Simon Lacroix, with the latter two hailing from the Ottawa region. For this first venture, they decided to create small theatrical objects and to play extensively with form, exploring themes of hope and love, plus fear of the future and the adult world. By combining the madcap with tenderness, absurdity and a playful spirit, they provoke surprise and strike a chord with the fantasy that lives within each of us.
