In the spring of 2017 the NAC Orchestra was in residence for two days with 240 students from across New Brunswick as part of their Canada 150 Tour. Alexander Shelley, James Ehnes and members of the NAC Orchestra coached three Sistema ensembles, with a final concert featuring NAC Orchestra musicians playing alongside these young emerging artists.
This summer, some of those same young musicians visited Ottawa to perform in Southam Hall as part of the Canada Scene festival. " I'm not going to lie, when we first walked on stage I was tearing up a little bit." said Avery Kennedy. "Reconnecting with the NAC Orchestra and Alexander Shelley here in Ottawa has been pretty amazing."
