On Thursday, April 29, we’ll join dance artists, dance organizations and dance lovers around the world in marking International Dance Day in a special, digital way. Always a beacon of hope, our Kipnes Lantern will project a beautiful message of support for dance artists and audiences.

“International Dance Day allows us to focus collectively on the value and resonance of this beautiful art form. We celebrate and applaud the incredible passion and commitment of all our colleagues – choreographers, performers, lighting, sound and set designers, crews, producers, administrators, teachers– who work tirelessly in the milieu. Through what has been a very tough year for artists everywhere, dance continues to shine its light on the very essence of the human spirit, the will to communicate and connect with people everywhere. Happy International Dance Day 2021 – the next dance is for you!” said Executive Producer, NAC Dance, Cathy Levy.

With most theatres, performance centres, and dance companies around the world still fighting the global pandemic and unable to present live work, NAC Dance invites you to celebrate International Dance Day by showing What Moves You on social media! Whether you’re on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or TikTok, share your favourite dance piece, your best moves, or tell us what this beautiful art form means to you by tagging us in your posts and using the hashtags #InternationalDanceDay and #PassTheDance!

As we wait to come together again, we encourage you to stay safe and to find ways to bring dance into your homes today, and every day.
