They are two of the most prestigious performance stages in North America, the National Arts Centre’s Theatre and Southam Hall. Luciano Pavarotti, Bob Dylan, Oscar Peterson, Rudolf Nureyev, Yo Yo Ma, Leonard Cohen and thousands of the world’s most iconic artists have performed here.
For a few hours on the afternoon of September 28, there will be a rare opportunity for you to join their hallowed company by climbing onto the very same two stages to... dance and act. Seriously.
It’s all part of Culture Days 2014. This pan-Canadian event attracted 1.6 million participants last year through 7,000 free events in 80 cities and towns from coast to coast. This year promises to be even bigger.
In addition to hip hop, bollywood and jazz dance workshops in Southam Hall and the acting lessons on the Theatre stage, the NAC will offer rare self-guided backstage tours, not to mention workshops in the circus arts, photography, printmaking, as well as puppetry and music.
