CELEBRATED TAIWANESE CHOREOGRAPHER LIN LEE-CHEN PRESENTS THE ETERNAL TIDES, ONE NIGHT ONLY ON JANUARY 20.
NAC Dance is pleased to start the new year with the calm and meditative production by Taiwan’s Legend Lin Dance Theatre – The Eternal Tides – on Saturday, January 20. Artistic Director and choreographer, Lin Lee-Chen, who founded the company in 1995, takes inspiration from the elements of dance and music in the traditional religious rituals and ceremonial rites of her Taiwanese homeland. With this most recent piece, she explores the cycle of tides: transforming from the water drops in clouds to rain, falling into rivers, then flowing to the sea, a metaphor for the life cycle of human beings.
Lin Lee-Chen has caught global attention for her original dance vocabulary and grand productions that combine Eastern refinement, elegant physical aesthetics and brilliant visual imagery. Her works explore the relationship between humans and Nature.
Lin is best known for her famous trilogy “Heaven, Earth, and Man” that begins with Miroirs de Vie (1995), followed by Hymne aux Fleurs qui Passent (2000), and Song of Pensive Beholding (2009). The Eternal Tides is the continuance of the legend of the Eagle Brother and White Bird from the work Song of Pensive Beholding.
