  As the National Arts Centre’s Chief Information Officer, Sarah MacKinnon has a passion for the arts and a talent for fostering creativity and tech innovation. She loves using technology to create unforgettable experiences that surprise and delight others. Sarah's dedication to inclusivity and accessibility in the arts is evident, as she conceived the MYÜZ project in consultation with the disability community to create a space that is welcoming and engaging for all visitors. Sarah also leverages her experience as a freelance escape room designer to reimagine large-scale immersive experiences such as MYÜZ. 

  À titre de dirigeante principale de l’information du Centre national des Arts, Sarah MacKinnon se passionne pour les arts et sait promouvoir la créativité et les innovations technologiques. Elle adore faire appel à la technologie pour créer des expériences inoubliables, à la fois surprenantes et ravissantes. Croyant foncièrement à l’importance de l’inclusivité et de l’accessibilité dans les arts, elle a conçu le projet MYÜZ en concertation avec la communauté des personnes en situation de handicap afin de créer un espace accueillant et captivant pour tout le monde. Elle s’appuie également sur son bagage de conceptrice indépendante de jeux d’évasion pour repousser les limites des expériences à grande échelle comme celles de MYÜZ.

  Featuring Echo Zhou

  

  Featuring Echo Zhou

  Echo is an award-winning, proud Chinese immigrant and Tkaronto-based scenographer. In her professional career, she has been mainly focused on IBPOC and queer storytelling and making live performances as accessible as possible. She has designed for many art organizations nationwide, including the Stratford Festival, Tapestry Opera, Tarragon Theatre, Buddies in the Bad Times, Theatre Passe Muraille, Thousand Island Playhouse, and many live performance festivals. Her designs have been presented in Japan and China. Her favourite recent credits are Cymbeline (Stratford Festival), Shaniqua in Abstraction (Crow's Theatre), Rocking Horse Winner (Tapestry Opera), A Poem for Rabia (Tarragon Theatre), Dragon's Tale (Tapestry Opera), The Chinese Lady (Studio 180); Benevolence (Benevolence Collective); Between a Wok and a Hotpot (Cahoots Theatre); The Year of the Cello (Theatre Passe Muraille); HMS Pinafore (Vancouver Opera); Every Brilliant Thing (Thousand Island Playhouse); White Girls in Moccasins (Manidoons Collective); Mr. Shi and His Lover, and I Swallowed Moon Made of Iron (Music Picnic). Echo is a member of the Associated Designers of Canada. For Grandpa, 獻給敬愛的嗲嗲。 

  Echo Zhou est une scénographe primée et fière immigrante chinoise. Établie à Tkaronto (Toronto), elle s’intéresse aux récits des communautés PANDC et queer et souhaite rendre les spectacles les plus accessibles possibles. Elle a travaillé sur de multiples productions canadiennes, notamment celles du Festival de Stratford, du Tapestry Opera, du Tarragon Theatre, de Buddies in the Bad Times, du Theatre Passe Muraille, de Thousand Islands Playhouse et de nombreux festivals. Ses créations ont été présentées au Japon et en Chine.   Featuring Katharine Fountain

  Katharine Fountain is an artist and sound designer from Halifax, Nova Scotia. 

  While crafting the sonic backdrop of MYÜZ, Katharine drew inspiration from the sounds and spirit of beloved pets and local wildlife, the essence of sweet nostalgia, and her ongoing journey on the path towards understanding the inner workings of her own mind.  

  The sounds of MYÜZ were created using an assortment of vocal recordings, custom synth patches and found sounds. The soundscape has been meticulously arranged to enhance the theme of each room, while subconsciously guiding the audience to explore their imagination and limitless creativity. 

  Katharine is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and McGill University. She is an active member of the NAC/CNA’s Global Network of Female & Non-Binary Music Producers.

  Katharine Fountain est une artiste et conceptrice sonore d’Halifax, en Nouvelle-Écosse. 

  Pour concevoir la toile sonore de MYÜZ, elle s’est inspirée des sons et de la personnalité de ses animaux de compagnie et de la faune locale; l’essence de la douce nostalgie et son cheminement intérieur vers ses propres pensées.  

  On y entend tout un assortiment d’enregistrements vocaux, de programmes de synthétiseur de son cru et de sons glanés ici et là. Chaque arrangement sonore a été pensé avec le thème de la pièce en tête pour amener inconsciemment le public à explorer son imaginaire et son inépuisable créativité. 

  Katharine Fountain est diplômée de l’École de musique Berklee et de l’Université McGill. Elle est très impliquée dans le Réseau mondial pour les femmes et les personnes non binaires spécialisées en production musicale du Centre national des Arts.

  Featuring Martin Conboy

  Martin Conboy is a lighting designer who has worked extensively at NAC and in theatres across Canada, the US and Europe.  As a theatre consultant, Martin is responsible for designing many theatres - GCTC Ottawa, Canadian Aviation Museum's theatre, Algonquin College 700-seat theatre, Arts Court –University of Ottawa development, Aurora Arts Centre, Roxy Theatre Edmonton. Recent architectural lighting - Roy Thomson Hall and Massey Hall in Toronto, Canadian Embassy Paris. Martin is the co-creator of a WW1 projection Vigil 1914-1918 in Ottawa, Toronto, Halifax, Fredericton, Edmonton, Calgary, Canada House, Trafalgar Square London, and Cloth Hall in Ieper, Belgium.  Martin is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCAA). 

  Martin Conboy est un habitué du CNA qui a travaillé partout au Canada, aux États-Unis et en Europe. Également consultant en théâtre, le concepteur d’éclairages a collaboré avec de nombreux théâtres, notamment GCTC Ottawa, le théâtre du Musée de l’aviation, le théâtre de 700 places du Collège Algonquin, la Cour des arts – Bureau du développement de l’Université d’Ottawa, l’Aurora Arts Centre et le Roxy Theatre (Edmonton). Il s’est également occupé de l’éclairage architectural du Roy Thomson Hall et du Massey Hall à Toronto, et de l’ambassade du Canada à Paris. Il est l’un des cocréateurs de la VIGILE 1914–1918 commémorant la Première Guerre mondiale au Canada (Ottawa, Toronto, Halifax, Fredericton, Edmonton et Calgary), au Royaume-Uni (Maison du Canada et Trafalgar Square) et en Belgique (Halles aux draps, Ypres). Martin Conboy est membre de l’Académie royale des arts du Canada (ARC).
