As part of the SPHERE festival celebrating nature, step into a day of wonder and exploration for the whole family at the Canadian Museum of History.

SCHEDULE

All day: CINÉ+ 

Through stunning, larger-than-life images, CINÉ+ takes you on an exciting journey through culture and history via a wide array of enlightening bilingual documentary films: Flight of the Butterflies 3D, Jane Goodall: Reasons for Hope, the Great Bear Rainforest, Backyard Wilderness 3D.

All day: Carp Kite Workshop

Let your creativity soar as you design and create your very own carp kite, a water symbol of perseverance and freedom.

All day: Go Fishing and water tasting station with Ottawa Riverkeeper 

Protecting the health of the Ottawa River watershed is at the heart of the work of Ottawa Riverkeeper. Curious minds of all ages will discover the wonders of the watershed through fun, hands-on activities, including a Go Fishing game, to uncover the rich biodiversity that surrounds us. Thirsty from all the fun? Ottawa Riverkeeper will also have a water-tasting station on hand. Do you prefer river water from the tap? Bottled water? Groundwater from a well? Let’s find out and think about how to work together to protect water for all!

All morning: Interactive Storytime “Nibi’s Water Song”

in English at 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm
in French at 9:30 am, 10:30 am, 11:30 am

Story written by Sunshine Tenasco and illustrated by Chief Lady Bird.

Join us for a magical reading of Nibi’s Water Song! Discover the heartwarming adventure of Nibi, an Indigenous girl whose name means ‘water’ in Anishinaabemowin. Follow her inspiring quest for clean water as she demonstrates incredible determination, teamwork, and perseverance. This enchanting story is perfect for families and children eager to embark on a journey of courage and hope!

The author of this story, Sunshine Tenasco, will lead the English storytelling sessions, while a staff member from the Gatineau Public Library will host the French sessions.

2:00 pm: Concert by OrKidstra
See young OrKidstra musicians in this fun concert, where you’ll experience enchanting melodies showcasing their incredible talent!

Special Finale at 3:00 pm: Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons by the NAC Orchestra
(FREE - LIMITED CAPACITY - ACCESSIBLE WITHOUT MUSEUM TICKET)

End the day on a high note with a family-friendly concert featuring Vivaldi’s masterpiece, The Four Seasons, a timeless musical journey through the changing seasons, performed by National Arts Centre Orchestra members, with poem narrations by young OrKidstra musicians.
