Maia Castro is a Uruguayan tango singer and composer and currently one of the most important representatives of the Montevideo tango and milonguera scene in South America. She has toured extensively throughout South America, Europe and Asia. This will be her first performance in Canada as she is traveling directly from Uruguay. With her innovative stage presence, she presents a repertoire that combines classics of tango and folklore with her own modern, socially relevant compositions.

She has been recognized worldwide by the international press for her outstanding career and her strong influence on today's Latin American tango scene.
