  Principal Horn, TSO Neil Deland

  Neil Deland joined the Toronto Symphony Orchestra as Principal Horn in 2006. Prior to coming to Toronto, Mr. Deland had an extensive freelance presence in Boston, performing and touring often with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops. In addition to numerous graduation, wedding and other miscellaneous gigs, he was a member of the Boston Modern Orchestra Project and the Boston Philharmonic, and the orchestras of Vermont, Rhode Island, Portland, Springfield, and Emmanuel Church.

  As a soloist, Mr. Deland has performed Britten’s Serenade and the concertos of Mozart and Richard Strauss with the TSO, and appears frequently with the Amici Chamber Ensemble and Toronto Summer Music Festival. Since 2011, Mr. Deland has had the honour of frequently performing as a member of the Saito Kinen Festival and Mito Chamber Orchestra at the invitation of Seiji Ozawa. Other engagements have included guest principal horn with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

  Events in 2020 would lead Neil to join his partner, Associate Principal Trombonist Vanessa Fralick, in performing over 100 consecutive nightly concerts in the Annex neighbourhood as members of Horn on the Cob and the Social Distance.

  Neil Deland s’est joint à l’Orchestre symphonique de Toronto à titre de cor solo en 2006. Il a auparavant mené une prolifique carrière de pigiste à Boston, jouant et tournant fréquemment avec l’Orchestre symphonique de Boston et le Boston Pops. En plus de se produire lors de remises de diplômes, de mariages et d’autres événements, il a été membre du Boston Modern Orchestra Project et de l’Orchestre philharmonique de Boston ainsi que des orchestres du Vermont, du Rhode Island, de Portland, de Springfield et de l’église Emmanuel.

  En tant que soliste, il a joué la Sérénade de Britten et les concertos de Mozart et de Richard Strauss avec l’Orchestre symphonique de Toronto, et il se produit fréquemment avec l’Amici Chamber Ensemble et au Festival de musique d’été de Toronto. Depuis 2011, il a eu l’honneur de jouer à plusieurs reprises au Festival Saito Kinen et avec l’Orchestre de chambre Mito à l’invitation de Seiji Ozawa. Il a également été cor solo invité pour les orchestres symphoniques de Boston et de Chicago.

  En 2020, lui et sa partenaire Vanessa Fralick, trombone solo associée, ont joué plus de 100 soirs de suite dans le quartier The Annex en tant que membres du groupe Horn on the Cob and the Social Distance.
