Jukebox Lunch Concerts
Jessy Lindsay is a queer, bilingual Franco-Ontarian indie-pop songstress. Her use of catchy, jazz-infused melodies and honest lyrics will rope you into her world, where, in both English and French, she will wholeheartedly offer you her perspective on womanhood, self-confidence, and the reclamation of joy within patriarchal society.
Finding herself at the intersection of youth and mature adulthood, Jessy is in a self-discovery phase. Taking deliberate time to explore new(er) facets of her identity such as lesbianism and veganism, she is excited to see how they will begin influencing her music.
As a young artist in a Francophone minority situation, Jessy has seized every opportunity to develop her craft, participating in such musical initiatives as Quand ça nous chante (2016–2018), Jeux de la francophonie canadienne (2017), Jamais trop tôt (2017), Rond Point (2020) and Camp chanson de Petite-Vallée (2016 and 2021).
This powerhouse emerging artist has already established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the Ottawa music industry, boasting recent performances (2023) at the Festival franco-ontarien and the NAC Fourth Stage for the Empowering Women in the Music Industry conference.
Her micro-album J'explose, released in 2022, explores the injustices society inflicts on women in everyday life and in love. The album marked the beginning of a new, liberating era for the artist.
Her latest single, Pour toi, released in 2023, was created with Eric Eggleston for the third episode of the Bell Fibe TV series La quête sonique. It was composed for her late grandfather, the only other musician in the family. Contemporary yet nostalgic, with a steady beat, it is the artist's promise to keep her grandfather's memory alive and to continue singing the tunes they played together.
Pour toi, her debut EP J’explose (2022), and the rest of her singles are available on all streaming platforms.
