Peter A. Herrndorf Place,1 Elgin Street,OttawaSarah Howard is a singer-songwriter from humble beginnings. A lifelong dreamer, Sarah began creating sound worlds at the tender age of three, in the peach orchards of southern Ontario. Raised by a fierce single mom with an epic cassette collection, Sarah draws inspiration from chamber music, classic rock and folk, drone music and more. The result is a sound all her own. Each of her songs takes us on a sunset ending journey.
In 2018, she graduated from Carleton University with a bachelor's degree in songwriting and was awarded the University Medal in Music. She spent her time at Carleton exchanging songs and advice with JUNO winner Lynn Miles and celebrated Canadian songwriter Ian Tamblyn. Sarah has performed at the Ottawa Grassroots Festival, as a Via Rail in-flight artist, at the Frontenac Cultural Centre and at the National Arts Centre. Her debut EP, Niagara (2018), explores how trauma is inscribed in landscapes. Her latest release, Perennial, meditates on the mysterious cycles of life and nature. Sarah launched her first French EP, Coup de foudre, in September 2023.
Join us on Thursdays this spring for the second season of Jukebox Lunch Concerts, a free music-filled midday break in our sunny Peter A. Herrndorf Place. Come out and listen to sensational Canadian artists and refuel your energy for the rest of the day.
