“Can you think of the first song you played over and over again? The first song that you would take the time to rewind on the cassette tape, because it was worth it.”
The first thing we do in life is make sound. For writer, performer, and musician Zorana Sadiq, sound is our first, last, and most influential sense. In her first solo show, MixTape directed by Crow’s Theatre Artistic Director Chris Abraham, Sadiq invites her audience into a life experienced through sounds and an obsession with making them.
From Neil Diamond to Kate Bush, from show tunes to Mozart, and from squeaky oven doors to the thwap of a heartbeat, Sadiq curates the ultimate mixtape for life; part memoir, part scientific inquiry, and part love affair with listening.
Zorana Sadiq is an award-winning, Pakistani-Canadian actor, playwright, and classical musician whose work and performances span theatre, radio, and new music. Zorana premiered, MixTape in 2021 at Crow’s Theatre, subsequently touring to London’s Grand Theatre and Here for Now Theatre in Stratford. The show received three Dora Mavor Moore nominations and was featured as an audio drama on CBC’s PlayMe Podcast.
