A journey for young and old alike

Look through a very special window filled with images. A window where you can hear the wind blowing and smell the flowers growing all around; a window where you can see the sky... Here you’ll find Gabrielle Roy, observing with wonder all the life in her corner of the world. Let her tell you about the grasses that dance in the wind; describe the black and white birds that cry at low tide; and whisper to you about the fireflies that twinkle at dusk.

Freely inspired by the eponymous text, Cet été qui chantait is as gentle as Gabrielle Roy’s own words. After workshopping the first part at Zones Théâtrales 2021, Marie-Ève Fontaine returns with the finished work – to invite us on a sensory journey that everyone will enjoy. Featuring a soundscape and colourful characters, the deeply poetic universe of the Franco-Manitoban author comes to life through puppet, shadow and object theatre. A show that will appeal to all audiences, but which is designed especially for children and seniors.
