Learning our cultural heritage is a process of unfolding that begins with the questions, who am I and where do I come from? As creators, we are given the chance to undergo this powerful research through our artistic practise. Growing into our deepened understanding of the ancestral ties we have to our origins, we can tap into this well-spring of inspiration to find our choreographic containers and the movement that our hearts wish for our bodies to express. In this Talking Truths circle conversation, hosted by Indigenous choreographer and producer, Olivia C. Davies, you are invited to witness choreographers Aria Evans, Jeanette Kotowich, Samantha Sutherland and Sophie Dow express their truths and exchange ideas on how this process has influenced the works they share in the Matriarchs Uprising programs.
This talk will be taking place at Ottawa Dance Directive (2 Daly Avenue, Ottawa).
