with La Faune
Simon Daniel
Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Simon Daniel interweaves elements of pop, electro, alternative and rock music to back his transcendent voice that carries the sound of a timeless urban Acadia. Over layers of analog synthesizers, his melodies convey vivid, self-analytical lyrics that blend French, English and Chiac. Four years after the release of his first album, Nightcrawler, which earned him several accolades (including two ECMA nominations and a nomination for Artist of the Year at the Éloizes awards), Simon returns with Sans titre (for now), a project produced in collaboration with Mario Lepage, the Fransaskois multi-instrumentalist behind the band Ponteix. The album marks an evolution towards more direct and contemplative songs that, while delivering a decidedly pop sound, still leave plenty of room to experiment with sound and texture.
La Faune
Jérémie Essiambre, a.k.a. La Faune, is an up-and-coming Francophone producer/director who blends rock, pop, folk and experimental music to create his own musical jungle. A Gaspé–Montréal hybrid, Jérémie is a music lover fascinated by the straightforward, simple sound of the city, overlaid on the vast, sweeping soundscapes of the great outdoors. La Faune depicts all the people and experiences that surround him. In his husky voice, the singer–songwriter—who’s also worked as a musician with multiple artists, including Anachnid, Laura Niquay, Lucill, Cosmophone, thaïs, Kanen, Elisapie and many more—shares an in-depth look at his daily life.
