ZINNIA is an artful storm of indie rock: equal parts intimate and fierce. Making CBC's list of "Best Lyrics of 2019" and turning heads with their genre-crossing collaborations, ZINNIA is unflinching in its exploration of grief, mental illness, and joy with depth. Rachael Cardiello - front person and writer behind the project - originated in Montana but has woven her way into Toronto's many music scenes as a session violist over the past ten years touring and recording with the likes of Sarah Slean, Abigail Lapell, Skye Wallace, Gabrielle Papillon, The Wooden Sky, Hey Ocean!, Tim Darcy and Mary Lambert.

ZINNIA's debut album Sensations in Two Dot seeks to find compassion within moments of doubt. With the release of Sensations, ZINNIA  established an innovative and confident voice in the arts - reaching beyond music to collaborate with dancers, visual artists and filmmakers. Their sold-out Toronto album release Through the Prism of Dance featured nine choreographers and eleven dancers interpreting the album songs through dance. These pieces were later re-interpreted and filmed in each choreographer's place of isolation during the 2020 pandemic in the series Sensations in Lockdown.
