  Choreographer, performer and teacher for 20 years, Caroline Laurin-Beaucage has worked with Ginette Laurin (O Vertigo), Jacques Poulin-Denis, Paul-André Fortier and Jean-Pierre Perreault.Her repertoire includes about ten works that have been presented in Montreal (Danse Danse, Agora de la danse, Tangente, FTA, OFFTA), as well as in France, Spain, Hungary, Germany and South Korea.  In 2016, she created Habiter sa mémoire, an outdoor performance that was presented in about twenty places around the world. From this major project emerged in 2019 the scenic creation Intérieurs (“Prix du CALQ” for the best choreographic work in Quebec) and the exhibition Marquer le temps, presented by Danse Danse and Place des Arts. 

  ​Caroline Laurin-Beaucage graduated from the School of the Toronto Dance Theatre. She has been teaching at Montreal’s Concordia University since 2005, and as a guest teacher at the Dance Department of UQAM in 2020-2021. She co-founded the structure for choreographers Lorganisme and was its Artistic and General Director until 2019. She was also a member of the artistic committee overseeing the development of Montreal’s Centre de création O Vertigo (CCOV).

  The artistic language of Caroline Laurin-Beaucage draws first upon the body and movement, before crystallizing in the theoretical concepts that give them form. She is interested in sensible phenomena and largely intangible physical principles such as gravity and memory, and in the way they affect and shape the deployment of choreographic writing.

  In appropriating these intangible manifestations and transposing them into dance, she has developed a vocabulary that is inextricably linked to matter, temporality, and spatiality. Movement is circumscribed within a moment, a space, or around scenographic elements in a manner that makes them constrain and structure the composition of the choreography. Carnal incarnations of hidden systems, Caroline’s works express the essence of humanity, bringing out both raw instinct and sensibility. Her substantial, uncompromising dance vividly embodies interiority and the imperceptible.

  Chorégraphe, interprète et enseignante depuis vingt ans, Caroline Laurin-Beaucage a travaillé auprès de Ginette Laurin (O Vertigo), Jacques Poulin-Denis, Paul-André Fortier et Jean-Pierre Perreault. Comptant une dizaine de créations à son répertoire, son travail a été vu à Montréal (Danse Danse, Agora de la danse, Tangente, FTA, OFFTA), ainsi qu’en France, en Espagne, en Hongrie, en Allemagne et en Corée du Sud. En 2016, Caroline entame le projet Habiter sa mémoire, une performance in situ présentée dans une vingtaine de lieux autour du monde. De ce projet d’envergure, elle tire en 2019 l’œuvre scénique Intérieurs (Prix du CALQ de la meilleure œuvre chorégraphique), ainsi que l’exposition Marquer le temps, présentées par Danse Danse et la Place des Arts. ​

  Formée à l’école du Toronto Dance Theatre, Caroline enseigne depuis 2005 à l’Université Concordia à Montréal et est professeure invitée au Département de danse de l’UQAM pour l’année universitaire 2020-2021. Caroline est cofondatrice de Lorganisme, dont elle est toujours membre et pour lequel elle a assuré la codirection artistique et la direction générale jusqu'en 2019. Elle a également fait partie du comité artistique ayant œuvré au développement du Centre de Création O Vertigo.

  Le langage artistique de Caroline Laurin-Beaucage puise d’abord dans le corps et le mouvement pour se cristalliser ensuite dans des concepts théoriques qui leur donnent forme. La démarche artistique de Caroline englobe la création chorégraphique, l’installation et la vidéo. Elle s’intéresse à des phénomènes sensibles et à des principes physiques souvent intangibles, comme la gravité et la mémoire, et à la manière dont ceux-ci affectent et façonnent le déploiement de l’écriture chorégraphique.

  En s’appropriant ces manifestations immatérielles et en les transposant dans la danse, elle développe un vocabulaire inextricablement lié à la matière, la temporalité et la spatialité. Elle circonscrit la gestuelle dans un moment, un espace ou autour d’éléments scénographiques de telle sorte que ceux-ci en viennent à contraindre et structurer la composition de la chorégraphie.​

  Incarnations charnelles de systèmes cachés, ses œuvres expriment l’essence de l’humanité en laissant jaillir à la fois l’instinct brut et la sensibilité de l’être. Dans une danse substantielle et sans concessions, son travail donne corps à l’imperceptible et à l’intériorité.
