  Andy Moro is the artistic co-director of ARTICLE11 with Tara Beagan, upholding the 11th Article of the UN’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

  Performer Cherish Violet Blood

  

  Performer Cherish Violet Blood

  Actor, storyteller, and activist, Cherish Violet Blood is a proud Blackfoot woman who hails from the Kainai Nation, or Blood Tribe Reserve #148 in Treaty 7 territory located in southern Alberta. Currently residing in Toronto, Ontario, Cherish is a professionally trained and well recognized performing artist with active followings in the national Indigenous and international theatre communities. Cherish has performed all over North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Scotland.

  Select credits include creator/performer in Material Witness (Spiderwoman Theatre La Mama, NYC), creator/performer in Making Treaty 7 directed by Michelle Thrush in Calgary, AB. And most recently, the lead role in Deer Woman, a new play that has been touring internationally by Tara Beagan. As a natural comedian Cherish has hosted many album release parties for artists such as Iskwe, LAL, and Fiver, as well as for community events and numerous fundraisers. Cherish was recently awarded a Canadian Screen Award for Actress in a Supporting Role for Scarborough.

  L’actrice, conteuse et militante Cherish Violet Blood est une fière Pied-Noire originaire de la nation Kainai, ou réserve n° 148 de la tribu des Blood, dans le territoire du Traité n° 7, situé dans le sud de l’Alberta. Résidant actuellement à Toronto, en Ontario, elle détient une solide formation et elle est une artiste de la scène reconnue, qui obtient de nombreux appuis dans les communautés théâtrales autochtones, nationales et internationales. Elle s’est produite partout en Amérique du Nord, en Australie, en Nouvelle-Zélande et en Écosse.

  Elle a notamment oeuvré comme créatrice et interprète dans Material Witness (Spiderwoman Theatre La Mama, New York) ainsi que dans Making Treaty 7, dans une mise en scène de Michelle Thrush, à Calgary, en Alberta. Plus récemment, elle a tenu le rôle principal dans Deer Woman, une nouvelle pièce de Tara Beagan qui a tourné sur la scène internationale. Sa veine comique l’a amenée à animer de nombreuses soirées de lancement d’albums pour des artistes tels que Iskwe, LAL et Fiver, ainsi que des événements communautaires et plusieurs activités de financement. Cherish a remporté un prix Écrans canadiens dans la catégorie Meilleure actrice de soutien pour son rôle dans Scarborough.

  Original Music and Stage Manager Lacey Hill

  Lacey is Oneida/Mohawk, Wolf Clan, from Six Nations of the Grand River Reservation. She is a singer/songwriter and an inspirational speaker. Her debut solo album, 528, was independently produced and released in 2013, which put her on the indie music radar and kick-started her career. 528 Volume II M was released in 2017 and took her across Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the UK in 2018-19. Lacey wrote original compositions for the stage play Deer Woman by Tara Beagan, where she also stage-managed the production. Her single “The Shiner” (2020) premiered on APTN’s Amplify series, and she was one of Rogers TV Highlight artists. Recently, Lacey has been acting on NDNS on the Airwaves Comedy Web Series (YouTube) and worked on songs for her third album, 528 Vol 3 The Moon, available on all streaming platforms.   Lacey Hill est une Oneida-Mohawk du clan du Loup de la bande Six Nations de Grand River. Elle est auteure-compositrice-interprète et conférencière motivatrice. En 2013, elle sort de l’ombre avec 528, un premier album produit sous étiquette indépendante et se fait un nom sur la scène musicale indépendante. Son deuxième album, 528 Volume II M, paraît en 2017 et l’entraîne dans une tournée internationale au Canada, en Nouvelle-Zélande, en Australie et au Royaume-Uni. On a pu entendre ses talents de compositrice dans la pièce Deer Woman de Tara Beagan, pour laquelle elle a également assuré la régie. Son simple The Shiner (2020) a été diffusé pour la première fois dans la série documentaire Amplify d’APTN. Elle fait partie des artistes coup de cœur de Rogers TV.   Collaborating Sound Designer Luca Caruso-Moro

  Luca is a journalist and designer living and working in Tkaronto/Toronto and Tiohtiá:ke/Montreal. His multidisciplinary practice spans cinematic, sonographic, performance, musical, and theatrical storytelling. He combines techniques from a diverse arsenal of disciplines to create both fiction and non-fiction. He is the youngest artist nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore award for his debut collaboration as sound designer on Cliff Cardinal’s Stitch in 2015. Since then, his work has been commissioned and recognized by news agencies, scholar and artist circles alike. His work has brought him all over Canada, from major cities to remote communities. He works in reverence of the diverse voices and stories that have been left out of the mainstream dialog. His practice is dedicated to elevating these voices, and the relentless, frantic pursuit of love, truth and joy.
