Now that the table is set, the fate of Poland is sealed. Make way for the grotesque, for all hell will break loose! Père Ubu is a bottle and a dishcloth is his wife. They are joined by some utensils, a large teapot and a few tomatoes. Using all available means, the two creators-puppeteers construct, in front of the audience, this small-scale fresco of grandiose buffoonery.
The evocative power of this theatre of objects knows no limits. Olivier Ducas and Francis Monty focus on action, complete with plot twists, dangerous stunts and spectacular effects. And because they also include numerous comments and veiled references, the audience becomes an accomplice in this scathing concoction.
To heighten the pleasure of theatricality, this culinary farce travels from the theatre to the backstage area at the NAC.
