Fridays at the Fourth Live From Lion D'Or in Montreal
Descended from an illustrious lineage of Malian griots, the singer Djely Tapa enlivens the stage with a repertory suspended between Sahelian, blues and electro atmospheres. Reflecting her musical identity, her new album Barokan is a resounding tribute to women and Africanness. The singer, originally from the region of Kayes, in the west of Mali, shares on stage the words imbued with wisdom and the vocal art of the griots, emblematic figures of ancient and contemporary Malian society.
Djely Tapa was named Révélation Radio-Canada’s World Music Revelation in the spring of 2019, and her album Barokan won the Juno for Best World Music Album in 2020.
