Members of the National Arts Centre Orchestra join forces with the Ottawa Youth Orchestra for a special side-by-side concert in Ottawa’s new Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre. In this one-hour concert, you will enjoy the sounds of approximately 100 musicians as they perform selections by Salieri, Haydn, Saint-Saëns, Smetana, and Mendelssohn, conducted by Ottawa Youth Orchestra Music Director Donnie Deacon.

In preparation for the concert, the students have received hands-on coaching from players of the NAC Orchestra, and spent two evenings rehearsing side by side with them and Donnie Deacon earlier in the week.

This event is presented as part of the NAC Orchestra’s Community Week taking place from March 9-13, 2020: The NAC Orchestra Community Week is an annual initiative showcasing the incredible work our musicians and Music Director Alexander Shelley do all year long.  The National Arts Centre is dedicated in its commitment to reaching students, youth, and amateur musicians and support the growth and development of musicians, educational programs and performance opportunities in the diverse community of Ottawa-Gatineau.
