Peter A. Herrndorf Place,1 Elgin Street,OttawaThis Musically Speaking event is the first choral preconcert recital of the season.
Aella is a treble ensemble founded by Jennifer Berntson, which performs without a conductor. Initially started as a pick-up choir for a single project – a concert of all-Canadian composers on July 1, 2016 – Aella is thrilled to have become a part of Ottawa’s rich choral scene! The ensemble has been described as "everything a modern choir should be – innovative, technically precise, joyous, comforting and representative" (Andrew Riddles, Classical Ottawa) and "like a battle scene from Game of Thrones although with far less violence" (Blake Edwards, new fan). They enjoy singing a mix of genres – from traditional choral repertoire, to challenging contemporary music, to pop – but mostly, they enjoy singing with each other.
