From the heart of Southern Ontario, The Young Novelists create some of the most sincere and heartfelt folk-pop this country has to offer.
Their 2015 album "made us strangers" earned them a number of accolades including a Canadian Folk Music Award for New/Emerging Artist and the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award. This husband-and-wife fronted act have a signature ability to balance their opposite dynamics, from tender harmonies with darkly poetic lyrics to thundering sing-alongs punctuated by charging rhythms on acoustic guitar and tambourine.
Their latest album “In city and country” was release in 2018 and produced in Montreal by Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire, Leonard Cohen, The Wooden Sky).
Leanne Hoffman’s work is a tribute to the magic of songwriting. The Halifax based singer-songwriter can lift words off a page and hearts out of their chests. At the crossroads of folk and synth-pop and Hoffman’s lyrics and resonant voice remain front and centre.
Her debut solo-album, “What Remains” produced by Erin Costelo will be released on Costelo’s label, Venue Records in May 2019.
