Benjamin Deschamps

Montreal native Benjamin Deschamps began learning music at Collège Notre-Dame on his chosen instrument, the saxophone. After deciding on a career as a musician, he continued his studies at Cégep de Saint-Laurent with Jean-Pierre Zanella, and at McGill University with Rémi Bolduc and Frank Lozano. He is extremely versatile, and plays flute, clarinet and the entire family of saxophones.

2017 was a banner year for him – Radio-Canada Jazz naming him one of the revelations of the year, the forthcoming performance of his Quintet at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, and the inclusion of his Quintet on the Montreal arts council's touring program for the 2017-18 season to present their new album of original jazz.
