Grant Burton is a former operations research analyst with Imperial Chemical Industries (U.K.), systems engineer at IBM (Montréal) and valuations and corporate restructuring consultant with Woods Gordon (now Ernst & Young). Grant is now owner and manager of Starcan Corporation.
After acquiring 16 businesses over a 27-year period, Grant is gradually reducing his responsibilities in the corporation, which engages mainly in hydraulic hose and tubing fabrication, industrial rubber fabrication and distribution, and OEM automotive metal stamping.
Grant’s considerable volunteer activities have included Big Brothers of (Metropolitan) Toronto, Big Brothers of Canada, Trillium Foundation, Calmeadow Foundation, Toronto Community Foundation, and the Toronto District Health Council.
Grant holds a B. Eng. (Mechanical) from McGill University (1963) and an MBA. from the University of Western Ontario (1968).
Grant was one of the founding directors of the National Arts Centre Foundation. He has been an Emeritus Director since 2010.
